The Vacheron Constantin Harrods Editions

The Vacheron Constantin Harrods Editions

As the worlds oldest watch manufacture in continuous production, Vacheron Constantin have produced some incredible timepieces over their 260 year history. Now, in partnership with the famous London department store Harrods, they have created two stunning 20 piece limited edition watches within the Tradtionnelle Collection. Two watches which both symbolise London luxury and display the Maison’s incredible artistic craft and Haute Horlogerie abilities.

The relationship between the United Kingdom and Vacheron is one that goes back quite some time. Company archives show that English devotees of Haute Horlogerie made their first purchase of Vacheron Constantin watches way back in 1811. Furthermore, there is a distinct appreciation for the style and masculine elegance us Brits radiate. Our affinity for fashion and dressing to impress has always been there. This then makes the collaboration with Harrods utterly perfect.

As I touched on there are two watches available. A 36mm and a 38mm case size both in stunning 18k 5N pink gold. Starting with the 36mm, this watch is a Traditionnelle moon phase and houses a hand wound mechanical movement. This is actually beautifully displayed through the sapphire crystal case back. If I’m honest this is equally as stunning as the front. A fluted edge circles round the miniature mechanical masterpiece that is the in-house 1410 AS calibre movement. One that has a 40-hour power reserve.

The dial of this watch is simply spectacular. On the left hand side at 11 o’clock you have the power reserve indictor. Below is the remarkable, eye catching moon phase display. Punctuated by 18k gold stars and moons, this requires adjustment only every 122 years compared to every 3 years with a regular moon phase. The silver, hand-guilloche dial is perfectly accompanied by the Vacheron Constantin, Maltese inspired motif. Furthermore a diamond set crown, bezel and lugs with 82 dazzling round-cut diamonds totalling 1.15 carats precise just elevate this watch further. Personally I love the green alligator strap on both watches. It perfectly incorporates the Famous Harrods green colour.

Alongside the majestic 36mm creation is the equally spectacular 38mm self-winding model. Its pink gold case cocoons the Manufacture 2455 calibre movement with its 40-hour power reserve. On the case-back, through the sapphire crystal, you can see the majestic 22k gold oscillating weight. This is in the shape of a Maltese cross, spinning round with purpose smoothly. It really is n incredible piece of craftsmanship.

For me, the dial of the Vacheron Traditionnelle self-winding watch is equally as lovely. A small seconds dial sits at 9 o’clock along with the date at 3 o’clock. Both are complimented by the hand-guilloche, silver-coloured dial and its pink gold batons marking the hours. Personally I love its simplicity. A watch of refined elegance that again like the smaller 36mm version, is further enhanced by that Harrods-esq green alligator strap.

As we all know Harrods, like Vacheron Constantin, delivers luxury to its customers in the most amazing way. When you walk through those doors in Knightsbridge you embark on an experience. This is exactly what you do with Vacheron as well. Harrods is now offering Haute Horlogerie connoisseurs the chance to own one of these 20 limited-edition masterpieces created exclusively by Vacheron Constantin.
