Summer is now in full bloom and revellers up and down the country are looking for bars and beer gardens to sit in with various refreshing drinks and cocktails to compliment. Delightfully, I was lucky enough this past weekend to check out the perfect summer accompaniment, a little hint of Mexico in the form of the “Patrón The Summer” Cocktail tour.
Patrón, the famed Mexican tequila brand have traveled the length and breadth of the U.K recently, delivering delicious, colourful cocktails created by celebrated local bartenders, all for you to indulge in. From summer favourites to twists on classics, there is something for everyone. Recently the vibrantly arty SWG3 Hypermarket welcomed the glistening and ultra cool “Patrón The Summer” cocktail airstream trailer into its graffiti yard, something which wonderfully compliments its surroundings, featuring artists books, limited edition prints and works by over 70 contemporary artists such as Llana Halperin, John Lambie and many more.
Something which I love about this project, referring back, is the cocktails created by local bartenders, in this case, Mr Ryan Mowat, head Bartender at Kelvingrove Cafe who delivered to us his spectacular “Gift From Earth Creation”, beautifully finished off with two edible flowers. Truly delicious, it is served alongside three hero cocktails, the Patrón Jalisco Mule, a Patron Margarita and fruity Patrón Paloma made with grapefruit soda. Each cocktails is in fact made using Patrón Silver Tequila, a 100% Weber Blue Agave tequila which mixes into any cocktail flawlessly. Speaking about his creation, Ryan stated “This cocktail pays homage to one of Patrón’s core values surrounding social responsiblity. For a long time I have been a keen advocate of these values in my bar, so I always make sure I utilise every element of the ingredients used. By being smart and innovative we can make some fantastic drinks. I want to be at the forefront of the sustainability scene in Glasgow and encourage other bars in the city to follow suit”.
Alongside the “Patrón The Summer” airstream trailer, and something else which I loved, is the interactive mural photo wall in which if you take a picture and use the #PatrónTheSummer on social media, your image will automatically be printed out then and there.
Glasgow revellers who are panicking please don’t, if you missed Ryan in the “Patrón The Summer” airstream, his “Gift From The Earth” cocktail will still be available as a special over at the Kelvingrove Cafe so I suggest you he’d over and try one out. For the rest of you lucky devils, the next stops on the “Patrón The Summer” tour are:
:Foodies Festival, Edinburgh 4th-6th of August
:Luna Cinema, Manchester 25th-26th of August
:Electric Fields, Thornhill, Scotland 1st-2nd of September
Make sure you are at one of the events to experience the delights of Patrón this summer.
