Here at The Gentleman Select, its always exciting to cover new season items, in this case Spring, which are well worth knowing about when it comes to improving both your wardrobe and keeping stylish. With the arrival of Spring indeed comes the better weather though lets not forget, it also brings with it the quick showers that have soaked us through many times. With that in mind, I’ve picked out a cracking item, the Hammond & Co Mac from Debenhams which is sure to keep you looking both stylish and dry when you are out and about.
The Mackintosh is a timeless item that was first created in my home city of Glasgow way back in 1824, originally from a sort of rubberised material, it is a piece which has come a long way since then in both look and style. An important feature to kick of is that Hammond & Co’s mac by Patrick Grant is shower resistant so as I touched on above, being made from 60% cotton and 40% polyester, makes this is an ideal piece for keeping you dry if you get caught in any downpours on your daily travels.
I personally really like the tan colour of this mac as well. Its very light, complimenting and matching with almost any colour and fabric you are wearing. The great thing about this piece also is that it goes fantastically well both smart and casual. I would recommend wearing this both with business attire, shirt and tie with perhaps a light jumper, or with some blue denim jeans and a stylish roll neck.
Something to bear in mind when choosing your size, is that the mac does have a regular fit. I’m 5ft 11″ and decided to go with a small which still left me adequate room to fit a shirt and jumper underneath without it becoming to tight. The detailing of this jacket is also spot on to. Sharp and simple black buttons run down the front which are discreetly hidden once you fasten up the mac leaving just the top button exposed. I also love the small flap sitting on the right hand shoulder, a slight nod I’m sure to the cape style mac’s of olden days if you check out some images. Internally as well along with the 100% polyester lining, there is a generous sized inner pocket, ideal for keeping essentials both safe and dry.
