Walking around the chilly streets of Glasgow in winter there are many tempting bars and restaurants beckoning you in with their warm, tempting food and appetising cocktails on offer. One such establishment which has been high on the list to try at The Gentleman Select is The Spiritualist Bar & Restaurant in which this month, I was very lucky to pop in and see the exquisite venue for myself.
Established on London’s famous Jermyn Street in 1898, T.M.Lewin has been helping men dress to impress for over 100 years. Their fantastic e-commerce set-up and some 100 U.K stores, including new sites opening around the world in Europe, Singapore and Australia, offers up a wide and rich variety of high quality shirts, impeccably tailored suits and jackets, with dapper accessories to match. Here at The Gentleman Select I was lucky enough to link-up with this tailoring titan to explore some of their key, new season pieces. Items that are perfect for everyday use, perhaps a special occasion or if you are dressing to impress. T.M.Lewin certainly has it all.
As a frequent traveller here at The Gentleman Select I know all to well the difficulty in trying to eat and exercise properly whilst always being on the move. It can be so easy to simply grab some fast food and bypass the gym area because you are tired and want to rest up however continuing with those choices can be a slippy road to go down and even harder to come back up. Thankfully one particular brand, Pullman Hotels, is driving forward Wellness Tourism with a passion, aiming to get visitors making healthy choices when they travel. Recently I paid a visit to their stunning site at Paris Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport for an exciting two days of healthy living, exploring their invigorating anti jet lag programme and spending time in the company of its creator and Pullman brand ambassador, Sarah Hoey.
A few weeks back I was lucky enough to spend an overnight in The Edinburgh Grand, a luxurious series of 5 star apartments at the heart of Edinburgh city centre. As part of the Chris Stewart Group portfolio along with the Old Town Chambers and Merchiston Residence, it is a venue I had heard much about and here at The Gentleman Select I couldn’t wait to visit.
As we go about our daily lives we constantly change between smart and casual outfits. From dress trousers to jeans. Tailored blazers to leather jackets, we are always altering our look. There is however an item which we wear consistently, everyday, without fail, well at least most of us do… I’am of course talking about underwear. The first item you put on in the morning and the last thing you take off at night, it is imperative your underwear is super comfortable. One brand which is delivering exactly this is Hamilton and Hare in which recently I was lucky enough to check out some stand out pieces in their very relaxing, luxurious range.
As many men out there will know it can be a tricky, even slightly nervy task updating your wardrobe and grooming regime for the Autumn season. What products to try, will they work for my skin or do I suit this colour? It can all be very bamboozling indeed. Thankfully, Silverburn is here help as it hosts its first ever menswear style event for those who are looking to update their wardrobe and skincare routine this season.
As I have talked about many times before on The Gentleman Select, tailoring is something I have an obsession with to put it mildly. A form of clothing that dominates my wardrobe, I ‘am always looking for new and exciting cuts and styles to add to an ever-growing collection. With this in mind, you can imagine the complete joy that consumed me when the opportunity came along to meet up with re-knowned Scottish tailor Andrew Brookes, to discuss all things fashion and style, whilst putting together a stunning three piece suit which would knock it out the park at any occasion. During my visit we also explored deeply into how I could wear this suit smart and formal, before splitting it up for a more casual, laid-back look, really re-inforcing both the versatility and importance of having a well cut suit in your wardrobe arsenal, along with the style choices men are making in the modern age.
Every now and then a vehicle comes along that is perfectly suited and crafted for long adventures on the open road. Last month I was lucky enough to drive one such vehicle and take it out on a short road trip to the historic Scottish town of St Andrews. It is a journey I’ve done before but never in quite so much comfort and elegance. This time I would be making said trip in the magnificent Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV.
In the past St Andrews was always a place I visited to play golf and why not, it is the home of golf after all with its incredible links courses presenting so many challenges. What I also love about the place is the narrow, cobbled little streets leading to quaint little pubs for drowning your sorrows after several wayward tee-shots during the day! Most recently however I visited St Andrews for a different reason. It was to check out the newly refurbished The Saint Bar & Kitchen, the ideal place to see what culinary delights this picturesque Scottish seaside town has to offer.
For the gent of today, it is hugely important to have some excellent go to, versatile accessories that will really spruce up any outfit. One of the most used has to be the good old belt and a particular style which looks fantastic with summer ensemble is the woven variety. There is a lot of choice out there at the moment however if I was to pick a personal favourite on The Gentleman Select, it would be the Smartweave from Arcade Belts.
