Horse racing or The Sport of Kings as it is also known, offers an incredible day out. Whether it be a little flutter on your favourite stallion or a glass of champagne and some delicious food, there is something for everybody. Excitingly the five star visitor attraction of Musselburgh Racecourse and its richest and most acclaimed race is back with its own headline raceday. The highly anticipated £100,000 Edinburgh Gin Scottish Sprint Cup.
On Saturday 9th of June, the Edinburgh Gin sponsored Scottish Sprint Cup will feature some of the U.K’s leading horses, jockeys and trainers in what will be a very glamorous occasion indeed. It is a day for the gentleman to don their finest tailoring and matching top hat and the ladies to put on their elegant dresses and fascinators because the Scottish Sprint Cup will be broadcast live on ITV4 making it one of the biggest social events in the Scottish racing calendar. Along with a number of big names, horse racing enthusiast Judy Murray OBE will also be in attendance to enjoy the action on the day.
Musselburgh Racecourse Marketing Manager Aisling Johnston commented: “The Scottish Sprint Cup is one of our most popular and richest flat races of the year so we’re thrilled to give it its very own headline race-day. It’s set to be a real highlight of the racing calendar and as well as exhilarating racing, it’s very much a social day out. There’s a wealth of gourmet food options and our sponsors Edinburgh Gin are creating a range of their famed drinks. And of course, we have Judy Murray returning,”
Judy Murray added: “I love going to the races at Musselburgh Racecourse. It is such a fun day out and the atmosphere is always amazing. I’m looking forward to being there on June 9th and experiencing The Scottish Sprint Cup which is sure to be an incredible contest”
Indeed as I touched on before, title sponsor Edinburgh Gin will feature its delightful spirit variations in all racecourse bars, pop-up bars and restaurants. The capital based spirits company will also take over the lawn area of the grounds, selling a great range of its premium gins, crafting concoctions such as the classic G&T, to special, on the day innovative cocktails by the Edinburgh Gin team. The famed Musselburgh course will also introduce one of the brands new premium gins- Seaside Gin, a fitting place to launch it I’am sure you will agree. If food is a big draw for you at the event then you can expect award-winning culinary delights from Heritage Portfolio serving up the likes of their freshly cooked Fish & Chips package with wine or beer, or the Gourmet Pie & Pint package, both of which include your admissions tickets and race-day programme.
Of course you can’t have a day at the races without some fantastic champagne and if this is your favourite tipple then the newly launched Champagne Experience is just for you. As a party of four you can enjoy the races from a private reserved table on the Pommery Lawn, tasting four seasonal Pommery champagnes along with a glass of selected fizz. To round off a splendid day there will be live music from Funk Wagon along with the acclaimed Musselburgh Racecourse afterparty. It will be a day I personally cannot wait to check out.
