Last year top clothing brands FatFace and Folk collaborated on their first collection. The result of this ski based lifestyle and minimal British streetwear brand joining forces was full of winter wardrobe essentials, perfectly incorporating function and style. Happily I can say they have decided to link up again, producing the FatFace x Folk SS19 collection, a range full of summer staples and essentials designed in Britain. Recently here at The Gentleman Select I had a closer look at some of the key pieces you can expect to see and moreover want in your wardrobe come sunny season.
When I first seen the FatFace x Folk ss19 collection there was so many pieces that caught my eye. Much like the collaboration before, various elements of both brands stand out. Simple sleek lines, flashes of colour and utilitarian hints blend in seamlessly with luxury and comfort. Straight away I was drawn to the navy coloured Chore Jacket priced at £95.00. Made from supersoft cotton, this piece has such a clean, minimal look to it. With a popper fastening at the top, large navy buttons continue down the front along with a zip behind them. Additionally, these buttons are featured on the stylish twin hip pockets which are positioned at an angle for easy access.
Putting the jacket on I was really impressed with the fit and shape. It hugs comfortably and yet not to loose making it an ideal layering piece, particularly in the colder weather. On the inside there is cosy horizontal quilting detail which actually continues three quarters of the way up the back of the jacket. This is a feature I really love as it brings in some texture to this modern, smart piece. The collar also features button down corners, ideal if a little wind appears and you want to turn it up around your neck.
As I touched on earlier, the FatFace x Folk Chore Jacket is a great layering piece which is why I went for the Cut And Sew Crew Neck Sweat underneath. Available in yellow and ecru at £49.50, this really is a classic item worth having. The cut & sew design is inspired by retro sports kits of the past with its stretch cuffs and hem. I really love the band detailing across the front and the fit is super comfortable with ample room for a T-Shirt underneath. Furthermore because it is such a clean, simple item it matches perfectly with so much. I went with the ecru because paired up with the navy Chore Jacket, they compliment each other so well due to the light and dark colours. The Cut And Sew Crew Neck detail undoubtedly stands out behind the minimal front of the jacket.
Of course to go with the top half, it’s important to have an equally as stylish bottom half. For me, there is nothing better than a classic pair of chinos. A spring/summer staple no matter if you are on holiday or at home. I went for the sand coloured slim fit pair coming in at £52.00. Along with looking great on, they are also extremely comfortable thanks to their durable 100% cotton structure. I love the little hints of detail such as the triangle stitching on the waistband and pocket edges. Subtle and smart looking. The sand colour also works in harmony with both the Cut And Sew Crew Neck and the navy Chore Jacket. Definitely a very adaptable and nifty outfit.
The FatFace x Folk SS19 collaboration is one full of modern essentials with unique details. It offers so many stand out pieces that work together so well when worn, pieces I would absolutely fill my spring/summer wardrobe with. As well as that there is incredible versatility in the collection. From the cosy Chore Jacket with its light padding to sharp graphic T-Shirts and short sleeve shirts. It is a range which provides options to transition from the cooler weather to glorious sunshine no matter where you are. The FatFace x Folk SS19 is a collection I would throughly recommend checking out.
