As a young brand, Martenero have gained popularity by offering high quality customisable watches at extremely competitive prices. Their Ace model in particular starts at a very reasonable $485, and allows the customer to choose from either “off-the-shelf” pre-made combinations of the watch or to customise it to their taste. This doesn’t just mean alternative straps and buckles, Martenero allows the customer to choose from different dial and hand options, essentially creating their own personalised watch. The components are then hand built in their New York facility and shipped worldwide.

The price is enough to lead some people to dismiss them as nothing more than a fashion watch. However, all watches feature mechanical movements, sapphire crystals, screw down crowns and 100m water resistance, and are made of 316L stainless steel – all traits you’ll find in even the highest end of the watch industry, and all traits you’ll find in their newest addition to the family in collaboration with Tanner Goods.

The new Martenero Ace is limited to 75 pieces, each with its individual number engraved on the case back, through which you can view the Miyota 821A automatic movement. It’s the same 42mm case you’ll find on standard Ace watches, but has a unique Desert Tan dial and a date window at 3 o’clock. You have the choice of either a NATO style or a single pass strap, each made of beautiful natural shell cordovan in tan with white stitching which compliments the dial perfectly.

Aside from it’s classic good looks and robust build, it’s important to mention that the Martenero Ace is priced at $580 on a single pass strap or $610 on a NATO, and packs a serious amount of watch into a relatively small price tag. Definitely something “Worth Holding Onto“.
